Don't be fooled by furniture that looks similar. Most furniture sold today is actually made with formaldehyde-resin plywood, particleboard, and veneers that outgas toxic fumes. Synthetic adhesives, stains, and finishes are also used in the manufacture of mass-produced "non-eco" furniture. Lifekind® solid maple and ash furniture is made using trees that are sustainably grown.

Lifekind® maple furniture may be ordered either smooth and unfinished, for purists, or with a hand-rubbed nontoxic nut-oil finish. The natural beauty of the maple will be pleasing either way. The main ingredient of the oil finish is derived from the seed of the China Wood tree (Aleurites fordii). It is a seed rich in unsaturated oils, and has been used for centuries to waterproof and create a lustrous finish on wood. It dries quickly into a tough, medium gloss. It is not classified as a federal hazardous material, and, in our opinion, is the safest finish available.

Our ash furniture is also available in a smooth, unfinished version, or in three beautiful tints (Clear, Honey Oak or Dark Oak), created with natural mineral pigments free of formaldehyde or other toxic ingredients. The very low VOC content meets or exceeds all air-quality regulations.

However you order it, our furniture comes ready to place in your home (with some minor assembly), and will last a lifetime.
