Our Maton^® is similar to a futon, but with a natural rubber core and Naturally Safer^® pure wool added for a more comfortable feel. Since it has characteristics of both a mattress and a futon, we named it the Maton.

Unlike all–cotton futons that all too soon become flat and hard, our Maton has been designed with a 2" Talalay natural rubber core (like a mattress) and then layered with soft padding (like a futon). A generous layer of our California–grown Naturally Safer pure wool makes the Maton substantially more flame resistant than all–cotton futons, as well as adding "cush" and minimizing body impressions.

Our Maton, like all futon products, will show body impressions, which occur naturally as the thick padding layers mold to your body's contours. Such impressions are a normal occurrence, not a structural defect. Generally, cotton will compress about 50% and wool will crush about 33% under the weight of an average sleeper. Our Maton should be turned and fluffed, but the natural rubber core will provide lasting resilience for the life of the product.

The 5" Maton is a perfect (yet inexpensive) transition from the crib when bed wetting is still a concern. It also makes a great permanent mattress for a child. For adults or with a folding sofa frame, choose the 7" Maton. Handmade in the USA.
