What makes Lifekind different? We make absolutely the purest organic mattress you can buy - and we can prove it! No standard exists to certify that a mattress is "green," or even organic. That's why we hold our materials up to scrutiny by qualified certifiers who are accredited according to the highest standards. By constantly seeking third-party certifications for our raw materials, our manufacturing facility, and our finished products, we provide the real substantiation that proves our mattresses are truly organic.

Three things make Lifekind unique in an industry crowded with seemingly similar products: Our certified raw materials, our certified factory, and our certified testing of the finished product.

At Lifekind, we hold third-party certifications from the following organizations. Please note that these logos represent not just membership, but true third-party inspection and approval:

	Our 100%-natural rubber latex is sustainably harvested from tropical rubber trees and manufactured into mattress cores here in the U.S. It has been independently tested and certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, so it’s guaranteed to contain no harmful substances. In addition, it is naturally antimicrobial and antifungal, creating a naturally healthful, hygienic sleep environment.
	Our California-grown Naturally Safer® wool is American Humane Certified, guaranteeing safe and humane animal treatment. Our sheep are reared holistically on organic land without the use of antibiotics, hormones, or other chemical applications.
	An organic-only manufacturing environment is critical in preventing cross-contamination from conventional products. Our factory, located in Northern California, is truly unique – the first and only large-scale 100%-organic mattress Eco-Factory™ in North America. Oregon Tilth, the most respected name in organic certification, has certified our entire facility to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). We believe there is no cleaner sewing facility in the mattress industry than our dedicated sewing room. Our Eco-Factory also provides a safe and healthy workplace for our employees.
	Our 100%-natural rubber latex is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Oeko-Tex is respected throughout the world for its stringent testing methods, guaranteeing the absence of substances that are harmful to human health.
	At Lifekind, we offer a truly certified finished product. In 2006, a Lifekind mattress was the first to be certified by GREENGUARD® for low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions based on its strict purity standards. (We even pass their most stringent requirement, for products designed to be used for children and schools.) No other adult mattress can make this claim.
	Lifekind proved to the Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2008 that it is possible to make a mattress using only our organically-grown California wool for flame protection, passing all federal and state flammability requirements without the use of chemical fire retardants.
	At Lifekind, we know it’s important to support U.S. organic farmers and manufacturers. That’s why we use only Texas-grown certified organic cotton batting in our mattresses and other products. Our cotton is certified by the Texas Department of Agriculture to be in compliance with growing and handling standards set by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP).
	IMO, the Institute for Marketecology, certifies our cotton thread to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). IMO is one of the first and most renowned international agencies for the inspection, certification, and quality assurance of eco-friendly products, with more than 20 years' experience in organic certification, natural textiles, sustainable forestry, and social-accountability monitoring.
	Naturally-occurring contaminants such as mold and mildew spores, yeasts, and bacteria can “hitchhike” from the field or storage facility on raw materials. At Lifekind, we treat our raw cotton and wool with pure, natural ozone in our exclusive sanitization chamber before building it into our mattresses. The ozone dissipates immediately to oxygen upon release, ensuring the unmatched purity of our products.

Our Certified Raw Materials

Our mattresses are made of the finest certified materials. The U.S.-grown organic cotton used in our batting, our cover material, and even our thread is certified by Oregon Tilth to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Our California-grown Naturally Safer wool is American Humane Certified. The sheep are reared organically without antibiotics, hormones, or other chemical treatments. Our 100% natural rubber latex is sustainably harvested from tropical rubber trees and manufactured into cores in the USA, and has been independently tested and certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 (contains no harmful substances, and is antimicrobial and antifungal). Our mattress foundations include lumber from Forest Stewardship Council-certified sustainable forests.

Our Certified Factory

An organic-only manufacturing environment is critical in preventing the cross-contamination that can occur from making conventional products in the same building with organics. We are committed to making only certified organic products at our facility. Our certified factory, located in Northern California, is truly unique - the first and only large-scale 100%-organic mattress Eco-Factory^™ in North America. Oregon Tilth, the most respected name in organic certification, has certified it to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Our exclusive ozone sanitization process reduces natural contaminants (molds, yeasts, or bacteria) ensuring the unmatched purity of our materials. We believe there is no cleaner sewing facility in the mattress industry than our dedicated sewing room. Our Eco-Factory also provides a safe and healthy workplace for our employees.

Our Certified Finished Product

In addition to third-party certification for our materials and factory, we also offer a certified finished product. In 2006, a Lifekind mattress was the first to be certified by GREENGUARD for low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions based on its strict purity standards. No other adult mattress can make this claim. We continue to meet federal flammability regulations without the use of chemicals. We proved to the Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2008 that it is possible to make a mattress using only our organically-grown California wool and still pass all federal and state flammability requirements.
