An organic mattress made from certified-organic materials are few and far between. Currently there are no regulations to restrict companies from labeling their mattress products as "natural mattresses," and most manufacturers of natural mattresses use ingredients that don’t contain 100% natural content. Many companies manufacture and sell products they've labeled as "natural mattresses" as an "organic mattress" but contain synthetic materials such as polyurethane foam, pesticide-treated cotton, boric acid (a natural insecticide containing high levels of arsenic), or a host of other dangerous chemicals. Such ingredients are bad for the environment, can be detrimental to our health, and have no place in an organic mattress. Independent, third-party certification is the only way to ensure that you are buying a truly organic mattress.
